Description
Ladotyri Mytilinis with protected designation of origin (PDO), is a hard cheese made from a mixture of sheep’s and goat’s milk from the islands of Lesvos. Ladotyri takes its name from the traditional way of storing it in olive oil. It is a spicy cheese, has a strong and salty taste and a hard texture. It is eaten as an accompaniment to snacks, but is also used in many recipes, such as soufflés or traditional island recipes like giousselemedes, stuffed squash blossoms or sfugato mytilinis, which gives it a flavour all its own.
The organic cheese products from Lesvigal are made from organic milk that comes exclusively from breeds of sheep and goats that are native to Lesvos and are fed with organic animal feed or grow up freely in controlled pastures.
