Manouri cheese PDO (protected designation of origin). Made from sheep’s and goat’s milk cheese enriched with sheep’s milk cream.
Manouri is white, soft and without rind. It comes in the form of balls, sausages or blunt cones about 12 cm in diameter and 20 cm long. It tastes mild, like whey and is very light. It contains only little salt and is therefore suitable for the preparation of desserts, cakes or pastries. It is also good as a topping for bread or as an ingredient in salads.
Manouri can also be pan-fried quite well and is very suitable for gratinating.
