Salepi or Sahlep, it is made from the tubers of orchids. It is mainly drunk in the winter months. It is very widespread in Greece and the Orient.
Salepi contains the substances arabinic acid and tragacanth, as well as a lot of starch. It contains a sticky substance “bazaar” which turns into a sticky thickening substance when boiled with water.
Preparation:
Bring water to boil and dissolve the amount of bags in the water, depending on the number of servings.
Let it cook until it foams and then take it off the stove and enjoy!
The salep already contains sugar and does not necessarily have to be sweetened.
