Description
Organic extra vergine olive oil from Chrysopigi Monastery in Crete. The Chrysopigi Monastery is located on the outskirts of the city of Chania. Around 50 nuns of the order live, pray and work here.
The Chrysopigi Monastery is dedicated to the All-Holy Mother of God (Zoodochou Pigi). In the monastery garden and in the adjacent fields are the olive trees, which are cultivated organically by the nuns.
The ecological and environmental protection measures of the monastery are very well known. Many groups of students visit the monastery to participate in the monastic environmental education program that the nuns conduct.
In addition to olive trees, the monastery also cultivates tangerine and orange trees, fig, avocado and apricot trees on a few dozen hectares of land. The monastery also has a large vegetable garden.
